W firmie, w ktorej pracuje, nie zapewniamy hostingu. Mamy za to stala umowe partnerska z pewnym serwisem hostingowym (swietnym zreszta). Niektorzy klienci jednak (lub ich IT support, zazwyczaj debilny), nie wiedziec czemu, upieraja sie przy hostowaniu swoich stron u innych providerow. No i dobrze, ich sprawa, nie ma problemu ogolnie.
Gorzej, jak zaczyna sie cos dziac. My dzwonimy po prostu do naszego supportu (hi Ryan, hi Jean ;)) i sprawa zalatwiona w kilka minut, w najgorszym razie w pol godziny. A inni providerzy – szkoda gadac…
Ponizej przyklad konwersacji z pania z firmy hostingowej (imiona zmienione). Odpowiada z kilkudniowym opoznieniem, telefon ciagle zajety, cena za hosting: 200 euro na rok za 25 mb powierzchni dyskowej.

The Client requested that a log analyzer was installed in the back of their site. We were looking at different log analysers and we chose AWStats. Can we have the script installed please? Also, can we have the directory with the statistics password protected

You must install that yourself on the customer hosting space. You can also change the permissions for the statistics folder.

No dopsz. To probujemy instalowac z Marcinem. Oczywiscie, nie mamy odpowiednich uprawnien i dostepu do serwera. No to pisze:

Thanks for your reply. I am of course aware I can chmod the folders. How can I log into the server to run the necessary Perl scripts? SSH does not seem to be working on port 22. maybe it is configured on some other port?
